Internet Bundles

We can all agree that having a slow internet connection is one of the most annoying things. It appears that our lives have been interrupted to some extent. Slow internet browsing, lost Wi-Fi signal, and the inability to stream—all of these issues are aggravating, especially in a society where being online is required for the smooth operation of daily tasks.

With such a strong reliance on the internet, maximizing the effectiveness of your internet connection should be a major priority. Weak WiFi signals can be caused by a variety of things, right? It's often difficult to pinpoint the actual problem, which makes it difficult to discover a solution.

This post is for you if you are a CenturyLink Internet subscriber who has been experiencing less-than-optimal internet speeds. Before you call for tech support, we'll show you how to fix weak CenturyLink Wi-Fi signals with some simple tips and tactics.

What to Do If Your CenturyLink WiFi Internet Isn't Working

There's no doubt that CenturyLink Complete WiFi provides subscribers with cutting-edge technology, and it's a terrific way to keep everyone in the family happy and all of your devices connected. Even the best wifi systems, though, can have issues. Because wireless speeds are vulnerable to external interference and signal loss over longer distances, they are not recommended. So, just because you're experiencing slow WiFi doesn't indicate the problem is with your CenturyLink Internet connection? There could be a number of factors at play at your end that is creating the problem.

So, first and foremost, you must understand the nature of the problem you're having. Do you have a slow or unreliable wireless connection, or are you unable to connect to CenturyLink WiFi at all?

What Should You Do If Your WiFi Speeds Are Slow and Your Signal Is Dropping?

When your internet is slow, do you experience low signal strength across all connected devices, buffering tv streaming video, and online pages that don't load?

Despite the fact that your device indicates that you are connected to WiFi. Running an internet speed test over a wired connection and then again when connecting via WiFi is one approach to establish if this is due to a poor internet connection or a weak CenturyLink WiFi signal.

If a comparison of wired and wireless speed testing reveals that the issue is with the WiFi signal, here are some methods to assist you to improve WiFi speeds:

Inspect All Connections

While this may appear to be a no-brainer, it is a typical reason for slow internet. Check all connections and tighten them with your fingers.

Your Wireless Modem/Router Should Be Moved

The location of the wireless modem or router has a significant impact on internet speed. So, if your internet equipment isn't in the center of your home, and the area surrounding it is cluttered, you're certain to have WiFi signal problems. The distance between the gateway and a connected device also influences the wireless connection's performance.

The wireless modem should ideally be situated higher than the floor level, in a location where the signals will not be blocked or diminished by objects such as:

  • Large water containers, such as an aquarium

  • Objects made of metal or electronic gadgets

  • Concrete or brick walls

  • Doors and windows that are thick and heavy

By removing the debris surrounding the CenturyLink wireless modem, signals should be able to move more easily. You may always try out different positions for your WiFi modem till you find the best one.

Examine your modem/router for firmware updates

Firmware upgrades are usually automated, but if the device isn't working properly, check to verify if the software encoded into the modem is up to current.

Log in to the web interface of the wireless modem or router using the default login credentials written on the modem's label. Check the Upgrade Status by going to Utilities. If the screen asks you to upgrade your firmware, choose download and store the file to your desktop for later installation.

If the notification indicates Firmware is up to date or N/A, it suggests there is no need to upgrade.

Reboot Your Wireless Modem/Router

Modems and routers, like PCs, can become stuck at times. A quick reboot will solve this problem. If you haven't rebooted your internet equipment in a while, now is the time to do so.

If you're utilizing a wireless modem, you'll only need to restart one device. You must also reboot both your modem and router if you have a separate setup. To reboot each device, just disconnect it from the power supply for up to 60 seconds before plugging it back in.

Please wait a few minutes for your device to completely reboot and connect to CenturyLink Internet. You can go online once the internet status indicator light turns green. You may also use the My CenturyLink app to reboot your CenturyLink Internet equipment?

Log in with your CenturyLink credentials and go to the "internet menu" under the "My Products" page to Reboot My Modem.

Conclusion

That's all there is to it! CenturyLink has tried and tested these tips and strategies and recommends them. And you'll probably be able to use these to improve weak Wi-Fi signals.
