TV CableThese cable provider discounts can be available year-round, or strictly on a case-by-case basis. Some can save you only a little per month, and others can cost you a reasonable amount. Some deals are clearly defined, while others you have to ask for.
If you're looking for a cable provider, look at your student ID and cut its costs one by one. It can't hurt to ask for a student cable discount, but this year we have not discovered any particular student discount promotions.
But what we have found is a range of cable bundles suitable for the budget of a student.
There is no national coverage for most cable providers, so it is necessary to find out which ones will provide your student housing services.

Pac-12 Network included
Affordable option

Pricier no-contract plans
Since it comes with the Pac-12 Network, sports fans can enjoy the Wireless Starter kit from Comcast Xfinity. It's less costly than the AT&T U200, but the optional DVR doesn't come with it.
Although this package requires a one-year term, for $10.00 more per month, Xfinity has no-contract options available. That's a little pricier, but it can give you extra peace of mind to be able to leave a provider whenever you want.

Solid channel lineup
No-contract options are also provided by Spectrum, which resulted from a merger between Charter, Time Warner Cable, and Bright House Networks. With the TV Select kit, the channel lineup is solid but does not have anything too thrilling.
And while TV Select has lesser channels than Cox's Contour TV, it's just as pricey, so before signing up, see if you have many options.

No required contract
Add-on channel packs are available
Cox's Contour TV is a good choice for students because it has no contract time, but for any excuse, you're free to cancel your cable TV. It also has several of the popular cable networks, and you can buy additional "TV Paks" to get some of your favorite channels, such as the Sports and Information Pak, Movie Pak, or Variety Pak.
But, it will cost you TV Paks, and Contour TV is already one of our lineup's more costly plans. But if you're happy with the starting lineup of Contour TV, which has a lot of decent channels on its own, it's a good choice because you're not going to be stuck with a full-year deal.

For students, we highly recommend AT&T U-verse as a TV alternative. All the regular cable channels such as CNN, ESPN, MTV, etc. are available at U200, plus a few extras like Comedy Central, NFL Network, truTV, etc. . In your package, AT&T includes a DVR, so you can record without paying extra for your favorite shows.
AT&T U-verse plans, sadly, come with a one-year deal contract. You'll have to pay a cancellation charge if your financial condition changes or you're not living in your college location or town over the summer.

HBO®, STARZ®, SHOWTIME®, and Cinemax® included for 3 months
Perhaps you saw the itty-bitty price tag and wondered why we didn't first mention DIRECTV ENTERTAINMENT. The catch is that all plans for DIRECTV come with a two-year contract, which for most students is not ideal.
But if you're sure that you're going to live in the same place for more than a year and you're okay with the price rising after the first year to $90.00 per month, this package is perfect for Tv nerds. It comes with the Genie DVR at no extra cost, you can receive three months of HBO®, STARZ®, SHOWTIME®, and Cinemax®.
TV And Internet Bundle
If you're already having the internet, ordering the same company's TV and internet is wise. You will typically get a bundling discount and occasionally extra rewards as well. And with both programs on the same bill, keeping track of them is a lot simpler.
Ask for students' discounts and offers
Asking never hurts! Call your provider ready to do a bit of bargain, and it could pay off for the price and channels you want. You may be shocked to find some unadvertised discounts and promo prices.
