Do you scratch your head while using your new DIRECTV remote? To help you get it matched and ready to go, we've made a step-by-step guide.

Resetting your DIRECTV Remote

A quick reboot will fix the problem if your DIRECTV remote has stopped working. Here's how to reset your remote control via DIRECTV.

1. Locate the button for reset. This is a small red button located on the side of the receiver inside the access card door, or, on some models. With no button? Proceed to step 3.

2. Press the button. Wait 15 seconds. Go to step 4

3. Remove the receiver from the wall outlet. Wait 15 sec., then plug it back in.

4. Try now.

It doesn't work

1. Shift something that could prevent the infrared light of your remote from reaching the sensor of the recipient. Even your entertainment center's glass door will cause interference.

2. Wipe away any greasy fingerprints or nacho cheese streaks from your remote's emitter and the receiver's sensor using a microfiber or other lint-free rag.

3. Keep your receiver and remote out of direct sunlight. Try to turn down the brightness on your TV as well. Bright light will interfere with the signal given by your remote.
