TV CableThe constant weather swings, chaos, and the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine have all raised our demand for free, dependable news. Fortunately, in these turbulent times, there are a plethora of free live TV news channels to watch and download.
One is having a good and fast internet connection, you can watch live news for free. All four major television networks (ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC) also have free 24-hour news streams.
If you have an over-the-air (OTA) HD antenna, you can also watch the latest news on your local affiliate networks (including PBS) for free, which gives you access to regular and Sunday morning national news as well as daily local coverage.
You can use an HD antenna to watch Live TV News
You can watch and get local information that some national news networks don't cover.
An HD antenna is simple to set up and costs less than $50. The Mohu Leaf 50 is a dependable and affordable choice that we recommend.

There are several free online news outlets available in addition to the Big Four networks (too many for one article, in fact). As a result, we'll limit ourselves to a dozen or so well-known and up-and-coming news networks that people usually turn to for national news.
ABC News
The ABC News live feed, not like your nearby ABC TV station, provides 24-hour news coverage. You can watch David Muir and his crew on any internet browser or by downloading the free ABC News app to your computer.
Al Jazeera
Al Jazeera English is a decent choice if you want foreign news coverage. Despite the fact that Al Jazeera US shut its doors last year, you can still watch Al Jazeera in English through a web browser or a streaming device such as a Roku.
Bloomberg
Interested in how the stock market (under)performs? No, neither do I. But, in all seriousness, Bloomberg provides free live financial news from any web browser and most streaming devices.
CBS News
Yes, Cronkite's house is available to watch for free on the internet. By installing the CBS News app, you can watch CBS News on any web browser and on your favorite devices—“And that's the way it is.”
Cheddar News
Cheddar News would be unfamiliar to the majority of people. Cheddar is a relative newcomer, claiming to be the pioneer of "post-cable" news. Cheddar can be streamed from your web browser or a compatible computer like Apple TV, as befitting its name.
CNN
Download the Pluto TV app or watch from your web browser to watch the CNN live stream for free (Dr. Sanjay Gupta fans rejoice!). But be aware that the live stream differs from daily CNN in that it is littered with random, distracting advertisements.

Fox News
To watch FOX News online, you typically need a TV provider username. During the coronavirus outbreak, however, FOX has stepped up and made the FOX News live stream available for free on Fox.com and the FOX News app, which you can download for free on your favorite smartphone.
NBC News
NBC News is not as flashy as MSNBC or CNBC, but it is available for free online streaming 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can watch live NBC News coverage on your computer or on your favorite devices, such as a tablet or smartphone, using an internet browser window or your favorite device.
Newsy
Are you familiar with the word "All right, boomer"? Then you've probably heard of Newsy, the news network targeted at millennials and Generation X. Regardless of generational differences, you can watch Newsy for free on the Roku Channel.
PBS NewsHour
Although you won't be able to live stream any PBS program for free using your browser or streaming device right now, you will be able to watch PBS NewsHour. So, if you're a fan of Jeffery Brown's arts reporting (even during corona), PBS NewsHour has you covered—both live and on-demand.
USA Today
Yeah, the middle-American print classic is now streaming live TV news. You can watch USA Today live on the Roku Channel if you're curious about how the crossover is going.
There are some Live news networks that require a subscription
To stream programming on your TV or other devices, many popular cable news networks require a cable, satellite, or live streaming TV subscription. There are a few well-known news networks that need paying subscriptions.
CNBC
NBCUniversal hasn't made any of its news channels available for free streaming, and CNBC, which focuses on industry, is one of the channels you'll have to pay for as a cable user. If you're a major stock market follower, you might use some of your dividends to get a TV provider login—just saying.
ESPNews
Some might argue that ESPNews isn't really a news network, but sports news is now pretty much all that sports fans have. To get all the info on the upcoming MLB, NBA, NFL, and NHL seasons, you'll need a TV provider username.
MSNBC
MSNBC, like its counterpart CNBC, has a nagging paywall. To get all of Rachel Maddow's and Chris Hayes' sweet, sweet news commentary, you'll need a TV provider username.
PBS
If using an affordable HD antenna to watch PBS is not an option, you'll need a provider or PBS Passport subscription
Live news is not available on all free live TV streaming sites and services.
We recommend Pluto TV for free news streams, as it allows you to watch ABC News, Bloomberg, CBS News, CNN, Cheddar, NBC News, Newsy, RT America, and more all in one location.
However, we're fairly confident you'll need to have some free trash TV to divert your focus away from the 24-hour news cycle. Pluto TV offers a lot more than just news, but here are a few more excellent free live streaming services to round out your choices.
